The SALSUS 2015: Teenage Lifestyle Trends Summary Report highlights that 15 year girls were most likely to say that they felt pressurised a lot of the time by schoolwork- 62%. This statistic could be correlated with 15 year old girls not liking school as much as boys and to the increase in 15 year old girls reporting a physical or mental condition or illness lasting 12 months or more. It is not just the pressures of schoolwork but all things associated with their lifestyle choices. It does highlight a stark reality of the unhappiness in some of our young people and this is not good thing. How do we build resilience in young people, is there more we can do at the foundation level helping them understand the core values of self-belief and meaningful relationships. Let me know what you think or even better what you do to in support of this.
