Positioning in conflict

I had the opportunity to be part of Scottish Adoption Week delivering sessions to parents and families while my colleague Alan, from the Cyrenians Mediation & Support team worked with the young people. It was great to see the families in the final session, and the willingness to participate in such an event.
It reminded me that family conflicts are complex and though common are unique to the relationship in which it manifests and progresses. Suffice to say that positioning in conflict can make it difficult for people to move. What would be your top tip in helping you or others move from a fixed position (fixed mindset) One of mine would be, to stop, relax and think about how you are currently thinking about the conflict, then think about it how you would approach it empathically, then think about how would you approach it compassionately. You would be quite surprised how mindsets can be changed.
