#International Day of Peace

Every year International Day of Peace is observed around the world on the 21st September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace.

Do we view conflict as the opposite of peace? Perhaps on some levels we do. At the SCCR we talk about conflict and the impact it has on family relationships. We also talk about conflict as an opportunity. An opportunity for change and for something to be different.

However, we also recognise that this ‘opportunity’ is not always possible for people for many reasons. Individuals and families living all over the world often have very little control over conflict that they are caught up in.

On this International day of peace our thoughts are with those caught up in conflict - within families, at work, at school, in different countries across the world and let us as a community continue to work towards peaceful solutions for everyone.
