Hi Abbey, I think technology has a big part to play in this matter. We live in an age of global communications and visual information. The SCCR like many other organisations provide user friendly online resources for those have access. Public spaces can inform people through visual media of services and support in which local services can be an integral part. Even small community groups can get together to inform each other and support those in the community. However people have to have the strength and the courage to this, by its very nature isolation and loneliness strips away confidence to talk and interact. Therefore approaches and services have to be considered and sensitive for people to feel valued and included. Building positive relationships starts with simple respectful communication, lets practice.
