Britain's teen girls struggling with mental health


This is not a shocking or particularly surprising statement. What is shocking is that research has found that there has been a 10% rise over the past decade of young woman suffering from anxiety or depression. Leading experts are calling it a “slow-growing epidemic”

Experts suggest that girls are potentially more likely to experience poor mental health due to pressures placed upon them by society - body image, bullying, school pressure, having enough friends, presenting a perfect life through social media …

Not only is this incredibly worrying but what does this mean for our relationships? Particularly our family relationships which are perhaps coming up against different stresses and strains than even 20 years ago. What can we do to support all young people and how to we have these conversations in our families?
